The Cornish Ghost III

Lost gear degrades and breaks down into smaller fibres eventually becoming microplastics which are practically invisible but never disappear.

These microplastics easily enter the food chain.

To date, about 1,300 marine species have been found to ingest plastics.

Series three focuses on a patch of ghost gear found at Cadgwith, which reveals how rope slowly degrades.

Eventually it will become harmful microplastics.
